James F. Gill, 76, Crawfordsville, died in his residence 8:30 p.m. Saturday of natural causes.
Mr. Gill was a lifelong resident of Crawfordsville. He had been a wholesale manager at Montgomery Supply for 10 years and worked at Montgomery Ward Service Department and New York Shoe Shop Bargain Center.

He was a 1950 graduate of Crawfordsville High School. He was a member of the Sugar Creek Radio Control Club and Friendship Baptist Church. He served in the National Guard at Crawfordsville.

He was born July 7, 1930 at Crawfordsville to Fred and Myrtle (Zachary) Gill. On June 9, 1956, he married Ellene J. Sheets at Crawfordsville. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Debra Hill, Indianapolis; stepdaughter, Gail Hampton, Waveland; a stepson, David Hampton, Crawfordsville; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilfred Gill and Maurice Gill; and a sister, Faye.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home with Dr. Curtis Brower officiating. Viewing will be noon-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Indian Creek Hill Cemetery, New Market.
